From now till 15 June, I’ll be doing a Ramadhan Special (dedicated to my Muslim readers) where I’ll be featuring 5 different Halal cafes/restaurants (two per week) to visit during the fasting month. Kick-starting the first series of the Ramadhan Special will be Brothers in Fine Food – a hidden gem in the hearts of Tampines.

Run by the same team behind Penny University, Brothers in Fine Food is a chic/hipster/rustic cafe that offers a plethora of fine dining quality Western-fusion food at a super reasonable price. You’ll be shocked at the quality of food they served (I was) and expect them to be of an exorbitant price BUT, nothing in the menu is above $18! For instance, you can enjoy a carefully-curated steak dish at only $15! On top of that, they also serve really outstanding plated desserts (I’ll be sharing one of their newest creation in this article as well) bound to tantalise your taste buds! So to all my Muslim brothers and sisters, please mark this gem down and bond with your loved ones over a sumptuous meal at Brothers in Fine Food without burning a hole in your pocket! This cafe definitely warrants a re-visit!

Doesn’t the whole setting here feels like you’re in Bali? Food is obviously very well-presented (from the picture above), and they were well-executed. I went there with 3 other friends and they were impressed with the food as well.

Brothers in Fine Food also offer really decent coffee with really nice latte art 🙂

Sous Vide Salmon, Brown Butter Miso, Israeli Giant Couscous, Konbu Pickled Shallots
Salmon was well-cooked to achieve a perfect texture – Skin was really crispy and the meat was tender. It was also well-seasoned with Brown Butter Miso and has no fishy taste. So good we were all fighting for the last piece. Highly recommended!

Beef Steak
Sous Vide and Seared, Beetroot Thyme Puree
If you have been following on my blog, you would know that I’ll try my best to avoid eating anything associated with beetroot unless they are very well incorporated into the dish. And this Beef Steak from Brothers in Fine Food did it. Steak was well-cooked (medium) to achieve a super tender texture. It was also juicy with a subtle thyme aroma. Pair it with the Beetroot Thyme Puree for maximum pleasure.

Duck Ragout
24-hour Pulled Smoked Duck, Tomato Cream Ragout Sauce, Basil Tagliatelle Pasta
Noodles had a great texture (Al dente) and the tomato sauce was not too overwhelming or too sweet. Pulled-smoked duck complemented the pasta really well. Plus, this super value-for-money pasta is ONLY $9!

(NEW) Ms Grey
French Earl Grey Cremeux with Strawberries, White Chocolate, Yuzu Pearls, Yoghurt Sorbet, Lychee & Mint
This is a piece of art. Getting her inspiration from her trip in Australia, this dessert has a Aussie element in it (but tweak to suit local taste buds). It was so beautifully-plated that we couldn’t bear ourselves to eat it. All sorts of flavour was bursting in the mouth and they all complemented one another very well. Try it to know how good this is. I’m definitely coming back for this again!
