Have you ever wondered why Japan has the highest life expectancy in the world? Or how can the Japanese maintain their slim figures despite downing all the beers/sakes? And also did you notice that most Japanese have flawless and radiant complexions? How on earth did they achieve all these? The secret – Kurozu, or otherwise known as Black Vinegar.
If you did not know, Kurozu (Black Vinegar) has been around for more than a decade and the Japanese has been consuming it since the Edo period in the 1800s. They are known to have immense health benefits such as 1) relieving stress and body fatigue, 2) Detoxifies the liver (haha, after all the drinking), 3) Stabilises blood pressure and prevents arteries from hardening, 3) Boosts metabolism and facilitates better blood circulation, 4) Promotes digestion and reduces constipation, 5) Breaks down fat, lowers cholesterol (I’m paying more attention to this point), 6) Protects against bacterial infection and strengthens the immune system and 7) Stabilises any potential spikes in blood glucose level. As you can see, the benefits to Kurozu is really extensive.
Other than buying Black Vinegar (in a bottle) at selected supermarkets, you can hardly, or not, find any places in Singapore that specialises in Black Vinegar food & drinks. But now you can at the newly-opened Kakuida’s Kurozu at Icon Village – A stall that concentrates mainly on Black Vinegar inspired food and drinks, incorporating it as part of one’s daily diet. Expect to see a wide variety of Kurozu inspired beverages such as Fruit Teas, Kurozu Softserves and Doughnuts at Kakuida’s Kurozu! Rejoice all office people working around Tanjong Pagar because you have now discovered the secret to the Japanese’s healthy diet.
P/s: They are offering different bundle sets to the office crowd at a super reasonable price! Also, they are having a GRAND OPENING Promotion where you can enjoy a 1-1 Baked Donut from now till 13 July 2018!

Kakuida’s Kurozu recognised that not many people are receptive to the taste of Black Vinegar (might be deemed as too ‘strong’), thus they have also introduced entry level Black Vinegar beverages. Ah yah! Just ask the friendly staffs for help/recommendation and they’ll be happy to assist you!
It’s very easy to spot Kakuida’s Kurozu because they are located at the outskirt of Icon Village. Just spot their striking blue logo!
The first thing that caught my attention (also thanks to its aroma) are these freshly baked Matcha flavoured Doughnuts! If you have been following me closely on my blog, I legit will go ‘rah rah’ for Matcha related stuff. And these Matcha Doughnut definitely made me go crazy. They were soft and fluffy with a nice Matcha fragrant (to be honest, the Black Vinegar flavour is really light). Oh yes, they are really addictive as well!
They are currently having a BUNDLE GOODNESS! 1) All Day Breakfast Bundle: 1 Original Doughnut + 1 Original Hot Kurozu only costs $2.90 from 8am – 10am, and $3.90 from 10am onwards, 2) Beauty Bundle: 1 Original Doughnut + Any 1 Fruits Kurozu only at $6.50 and 3) Tea-Party Bundle: 1 Original Doughnut + 1 Regular Cold Tea Beverage at $4.50! Aren’t the promotions attractive? Really envy the working people at Tanjong Pagar! By the way, the Original Doughnut was everyone’s favourite. It was soft and moist, and not jelat at all.
Absolutely in love with their softserve, especially the one with roasted tea. Softserve was not too sweet, and has a very subtle Kurozu flavour. Definitely a life-saver during a hot sunny afternoon! I’m coming back for this, for sure!
The Kurozu Doughnuts are perfect for any gifts, be it corporate or for your loved ones! You can get a box of 6 and surprise your loved ones! Personally, I would get the original and matcha flavoured one! Probably buying one box for myself as well!
