After almost a year, I’m back at the family-friendly and laid-back Atmosphere Bistro at East Coast Park for their special National Day menu, and I was very impressed. The new locally-inspired fusion dishes were shockingly good, and trust me, they have really improved by leaps and bounds. To celebrate Singapore’s 53rd birthday, Atmosphere Bistro has created a National Day menu that features some popular local classics with a modern twist. Expect to see Laksa Pasta, Scallop Chicken Rice, Sambal Chicken Burger, Chendol Panna Cotta and Pandan Waffles with Ice Cream. Riding on the ‘Nasi Lemak’ trend, they have also come out with their very own rendition of Nasi Lemak Egg Benedict (not gimmicky at all). Mark your calendar because this special National Day menu will only be available for the month of August. Miss it and you’ll regret it!

P/s: Atmosphere Bistro is known for its unparalleled seaside dining view, the National Day Menu will be perfect for those who seek to feast against a panoramic view.

As you can see, our popular local dishes are re-created at the hands of Atmosphere Bistro. We were very surprised to see how well-presented the dishes were. So pretty it’s hard not to let the camera ‘eat’ first, and of course, ultimate #flatlay goals.

Atmosphere Scallop Chicken Rice
This must be one of the prettiest/best-presented chicken rice that I’ve ever come across. Chicken rice was flavourful, has a really nice texture with a subtle ginger aroma and the chilli sauce on top was lit. Asparagus was well-cooked and well-seasoned as well. Finished it off with a perfectly seared scallop, this is a very good and creative take on our familiar chicken rice. A must-try!

Singapore Sambal Chicken Burger
The chicken chop was fried to perfection; crispy and not too oily. It was also drizzled with flavourful and not too spicy sambal sauce which was really addictive. I got hooked with just a few bites. Brioche buns were lightly-buttered and the fries were very well-seasoned.

Laksa Pasta
HMMM… I thought I have tried the best laksa pasta at Workbench Bistro but the rendition at Atmosphere Bistro is definitely comparable. It was drier and the flavour was really strong. You can really taste the laksa paste and coconut aroma. Noodles had a great texture too. My cousin said it was a tad oily towards the end but I was fine with it. Oh yes, not spicy at all.

Nasi Lemak Egg Benedict
No Nasi Lemak Burger but this Nasi Lemak Egg Benedict was not too bad. Egg was on point; super runny. Chicken wings were well-marinated and crispy. Chilli sauce was not too salty or sweet; goes really well with the wings and egg (for some reason). The only thing that I thought could be further improved is the bun. If it was not that soggy, I would have given a perfect rating for this dish. Other than that, this dish is worth ordering!

Chendol Panna Cotta
We all initially thought this was gonna be too sweet for us to handle, but we were wrong. Our eyes popped when we put a mouthful in. The chendol (top layer) paired really well with the panna cotta (bottom layer). Oh yes, the beans at the bottom were really good too. So good I think I can finish this alone. Yes ALONE! Strictly no sharing!Pandan Waffle with Coconut Ice Cream
Waffle wasn’t as dry as it appears to be, and it was so good. There’s a mix of this savoury (which I couldn’t figure out) and pandan aroma which made the waffle really addictive. Coconut ice cream, on the other hand, was not too sweet and it was relatively light (means not jelat). I’m really surprised at the standard of their dessert. Really not bad leh!
