Any fans of Yakimono (Japanese grilled skewers) and sake? If yes, you should pay EXTRA attention to this article. Hidden at a corner along Beach Road, Q-WA Izakaya has recently opened their second outlet offering White Charcoal grilled Yakimono using the finest ingredients shipped in from Japan. On top of that, they also serve artisanal Japanese alcohol (beers/sakes) at an extremely affordable price. For instance, you can enjoy a glass at $5 during Happy Hour.

In order to re-create the most authentic Izakaya experience to their customers, Owner Rita ensures that their specially-marinated skewers are meticulously grilled over one of the top-grade Sawdust Binchotan charcoals, imbuing it with a distinct touch of smokiness and umami. So, if you’re looking for a place to unwind after work, Q-WA Izakaya seems like the perfect place to de-stress over perfectly grilled Japanese skewers and affordable alcoholic beverages. Oh yes, they are currently offering a limited All-Day Happy Hour opening promotion to all beloved customers at the new outlet! Japanese beer, sake, whiskey, or shochu are NOW at $5 per glass. Damn shiok lah, so please remember to jio all your friends along to enjoy the offer. The more, the merrier!

Bid all your stress goodbye with a table full of perfectly grilled skewers and of course with a glass of whisky! Very good place to relax with your friends after work. I’m definitely going to share this hidden gem with my close friends NOW!

Japanese Freshwater Baby Crabs
First time seeing this and was really reluctant to try it at first but you know what, once you pop one into your mouth, you can’t stop yourself from finishing the entire plate. The baby crabs were well-seasoned (not too salty) and very crispy. So crispy you can hear the crunching sound inside your mouth. Remember to pair this dish with an iced cold beer. Advice: Order more because it’s really addictive!

Surame Ika
This squid was well-prepared and well-marinated. Texture was really good; not too tough or not too chewy. Flavour was really good, not too overpowering. Again, another dish that gets you hooked!

Shime Saba
Oh my! This was one of my favourite dish at the restaurant. The Mackerel was well-cooked, flavourful and really sweet. Texture of the fish was really nice too (sort of melty texture). Loving a good dash of lemon onto the fish to heighten its sweetness. A must-try!

Tomato Gushi & Uzura
This grilled tomato and quail egg wrapped with crispy bacon were bomb. The combination was good and they were not oily at all!

And of course the HIGHLIGHTS – YAKIMONO (Japanese Grilled Skewers). It’s hard to choose what to order because it’s really based on your preference. But if you are there with a group of friends, I would recommend you getting their set for sharing. Complement your alcoholic beverages really well!
