Closer ties are forged when people bond over food, and I have to agree with this statement. Just last week, we had a mini gathering at our office with a table full of mouth-watering dishes catered from Halia. Yes, the beautiful Halal restaurant at Singapore Botanic Gardens has recently launched their Signature Catering Fare, and it was so impressive that I thought I need to share it with you guys. It’s the first time we had a mini buffet in the office (all my colleagues were super excited), and the food from Halia definitely left a very lasting impression on every single one of us. Will we ever cater food from Halia to our office again? Yes, and yes and yes! It’s perfect for any corporate events, team bonding sessions, housewarming parties and even birthday celebrations! So, the next time you’re looking for a good catering company, remember to check Halia out. Confirm plus chop you’ll be damn satisfied ?
Twice-cooked Spatchcock of Spring Chicken
Mesquite, cajun, paprika, cabbage slaw, confit potato, pineapple ketchup
This is one of the dishes that caught everyone’s attention. As you can see from the picture, the spring chicken is perfectly roasted to achieve that golden brown colour. I was legit salivating when I saw the chicken (also coupled with its aroma). Chicken was really tender and juicy, and you know what? We finished it in no time. It was so good we can do without any condiments. If you’re choosing your catering dishes, this has got to be one of your selection. Must order please!
Lemongrass & Ginger Prawn Salad
Mango & tomato salsa, mesclun, homemade ginger flower dressing
This is such a great appetiser! Salad was well-dressed, flavourful and trust me, addictive. Once you start, you can’t stop. Loving the subtle lemongrass aroma in the salad. They were also very generous with the portions of prawns placed in the salad.
Soba noodle, carrot, spring onion, sesame seed, nori & ponzu
OMG! This is one of the prettiest Pulled Duck presentation (for catering) that I’ve come across. It was so pretty we couldn’t bear to destroy it. The meat was well-marinated, flavourful and for one second, I thought it was chicken. There was no gamey (duck) taste and it paired really well with the perfectly cooked soba noodle. Great combo!
Pumpkin Soup and Linseed Bread
Nothing beats having a warm and comforting bowl of pumpkin soup (especially when your office is super cold). Pumpkin soup was really rich, and dip it with the soft and fluffy bread for maximum pleasure!
Chilli Crab Gratin
Homemade chilli crab sauce, crab meat, egg, spring onion, pignolina pasta, cheddar, parmesan
This photo doesn’t do the Chilli Crab Gratin any justice! Okay, it was really hard to take a flattering photo of it but I can assure you it tastes even better than it looks. Chilli crab flavour was really strong and flavourful (not too jelat) and the pignolina pasta has a great texture. This is super filling by the way!
Marinated Cucumber, and Sweet Potato
Some sides to go with your mains! Sweet Potato dipped in aioli sauce is still the BEST!
Smoked Salmon Pate
Avocado, tomato & cucumber salsa, crostini, mixed herb & cream cheese
HMMMM! The salmon was not overly cooked, has a really nice texture and was not fishy. Paired it with a crispy crostini, you find yourself hooked in no time. So good my colleague couldn’t wait for me to take a photo and she dipped it with the crostini (explaining the hole at the left side).
BBQ Pulled Lamb Leg
Homemade BBQ sauce, lamb leg & crostini
Another addictive dish that goes really well with the crostini. Again, the lamb was so well-marinated that it wasn’t gamey at all. It was really flavourful with a smoky BBQ aftertaste.
Paperbag Oven-Baked Seabass Fillet
Soy & ginger broth, sushi rice, ginger flower sambal, wasabi aioli
Another dish that everyone was snatching for the last piece. Seabass was well-seasoned and well-cooked. The sauce was really flavourful! Literally melts in your mouth! Oh yes, the sauce pairs really well with the rice.
12 Hour Five Spiced Braised Beef
Mash potato, couscous salad, pickled vegetable
This was my favourite dish out of all! Beef was flavoursome, tender and very juicy. Loving the mash at the bottom as well!
Triple Chocolate Mousse
Dark chocolate sponge, milk chocolate mousse, chocolate crumble & berries
This has the perfect juxtaposition of sweet and salty. Chocolate was rich but not too overpowering. Texture was really nice. My sweet tooth is satisfied!
Toffee Pudding (v)
Dates, butterscotch sauce, sea salt
Hmm, the cake paired very well with the butterscotch sauce. Thank god it was not too sweet. Also, I kept one piece in the fridge and it tasted even better when eaten cold.
*The Communal Feast is perfect for a party of 5 or 10 pax (280+ and 535+ respectively).
