When it comes to trend-setting, Flavour Flings comes to mind. It was the first cafe that kick-started the whole salted egg craze in Singapore, and later introduced a Raclette-themed menu which was also well-received by the public. Once again, this humble and cosy Halal cafe in Hougang is back with a brand new ‘Unagi’ themed menu bound to tantalise your tastebuds. For my muslim friends, you can now get your Unagi cravings sorted out at Flavour Flings ??

Other than their new Unagi dishes, I also got to try their new Seafood Tom Yum Pasta and the still irresistible Salted Egg Lava Toast with Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream. All in all, it was (as usual) a very pleasant experience at Flavour Flings. Time to check out this cafe if you haven’t been there yet!

Unagi Cheese & Croissant
Unagi, if not cooked properly, has this very fishy taste but there isn’t in this dish at Flavour Flings. Croissant was lightly buttered, crispy and not too oily. Scrambled egg was well-cooked; soft and fluffy, and it was well-mixed with cheese. Unagi was well-seasoned and well-cooked (and that teriyaki sauce on the unagi is ?). Overall, the combination was good. Definitely what I want to see for brunch!

Seafood Tom Yum Pasta
That smell before you even take a bite can get you hooked in no time. The tom yum broth was bursting with flavours, and it was not as spicy as I thought. Noodles had a nice texture as well. Oh yes, they were quite generous with the servings of seafood. Trust me, it gets better and better with each mouthful. Psst! For those who are watching your weight, better skip this! Cos it opens up your appetite haha!

Salted Egg Lava Toast with Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream
Thought I was so done with Salted Egg & Lava Toast, but to realise I still can’t resist when it comes to a good one. Flavour Flings’ rendition is still as good as ever – Salted Egg sauce was fragrant, not too jelat and it goes so well with the soft and fluffy toast. Of course, you can pair it with the refreshing Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream and the sweet-sour Strawberry Jam!
