The popular Australian marketplace & cafe, Jones The Grocer, is back with a brand new menu that features a myriad of hearty and delectable Aussie dishes at a really reasonable price. Other than their flagship outlet at Dempsey, you can now enjoy their food at their second outlet in Great World City which was opened in October last year. Some of the MUST-TRY items in the new menu include Home-made Coconut Flour Pancakes (my fav), Green Chilli Cheese Toast and Grilled Tuna Salad. If you’re a self-professed carnivore, check out their Australian Strip Loin Steak and Buttermilk Chicken Burger! With such a diversified menu, you’re bound to find something that you’ll like at Jones The Grocer!
Talking about a good hearty Aussie meal; Jones The Grocer is very generous with the portion served. You can have brunch, salad, burgers and meats in one place – definitely walked home with a very satisfying stomach. That’s why you need to bring your family/friends so you guys can order different dishes to try! Their coffees ☕️ are really nice too!
Let’s first dive into their new brunch offerings!
Green Chilli Cheese Toast
Not the usual toast you’ll see for brunch but if you’re adventurous, this is pretty good. Melted cheese toast has a layer of fresh green chilli paste, served with two beautifully-cooked eggs and tomato coriander salsa. That subtle spicy kick at the end makes this dish really special/flavoursome. Oh yes, if you’re wondering if this is too spicy, I thought it was mild.
Grilled Sweet Potato and Smashed Avocado
Again, the new brunch items at Jones The Grocer are not boring at all. Instead of serving avocado on toasts, they decided to serve it on grilled sweet potato which works perfectly for me (major love for sweet potato). Loving the whole combination ?
Home-made Coconut Flour Pancakes
Hmm…my fav brunch item at Jones The Grocer. I mean who can ever resist pancakes for brunch? Pancakes were light, dense and they paired really well with the berries, pecan crumble and whipped Greek yoghurt. The portion is really huge, and I would suggest sharing this with someone.
Now, for the health-conscious group, they also have salads; big and nutritious salads for YOU!
Roasted Cauliflower & Kale Salad
I love Kale and they did it so well here. Mixed with crunchy roasted cauliflower and sweet roasted pumpkin, this dish can really makes you happy!
Grilled Tuna Salad
I’m not particularly fond of Tuna but if you’re, you’ll probably should order this because just look at how generous the servings are!
Red Quinoa & Avocado Salad
A refreshing mix of quinoa, red beans, pomegranate, green lentils, snow peas, goat’s feta (not too overwhelming) and generous avocado!
One of the sharing platter that you must get! It comes with roasted pumpkins & dukkha, feta salad, falafel (damn good), bulgur tabbouleh, olives, hummus, red pepper dip, tzatziki and Greek pita!
They also have SANDWICHES too!
Yum! Sandwiched between the toasted sourdough lies a tender stripling steak, smoked ham, pancetta, tomatoes, grilled peppers, eggs, Monterey jack and aioli! Loving that bowl of well-seasoned fries on the side as well. Sandwich was not dry at all!
Spiced Lamb Flatbread
This was quite the kick for me! Pulled lamb shoulders were not gamey, flavourful and it was spicy! Flatbread was not too tough! Because I can’t really handle spicy well, I’ll probably skip this dish!
If you’re a meat-lover, they have it here as well!
Buttermilk Chicken Burger
The fried chicken was well-marinated, fried to perfection, crispy and not too oily. Definitely a good burger!
Mediterranean Falafel Burger
Another yummy burger from Jones the Grocer! Loving that Falafel which was crispy and flavourful! Again, fries were really good too! Addictive!
Australian Strip Loin Steak
Here comes the highlight of our meal! This Australian Strip Loin was so so good, we finished it in no time. Steak was well-cooked; tender and super juicy. Drizzle that sauce all over the steak for maximum pleasure. Definitely warrants a re-visit!
