The popular Thai restaurant in Central Bangkok (Khao Yai), Un-Yan-Kor-Dai, or in short UYKD, has opened its first-ever outlet in Singapore along South Beach Road. Famed for its authentic Northern Thai and Isaan cuisine, UYKD has recently revamped their menu with a myriad of hearty and flavoursome dishes. Unlike the usual Thai dishes, Isaan cuisine is spicier and more sour. Some of the MUST-TRY includes the iconic Leng Zaab (get your camera ready for some flambé action), UYKD Grilled Platter, Stuffed Whole Squid with Tom Yum Fried Rice, Spicy Pomelo Thai Salad with Fresh Prawns and many more! On top of that, the office crowd can also enjoy value-for-money set lunches at UYKD from 1:30am to 2:30pm daily! Hmm, I guess we no longer need to travel all the way to Bangkok to have authentic Northern Thai & Isaan cuisine!

Here’s a sneak preview to UYKD’s new menu! It’s better to jio more of your friends cos most of the dishes are meant for sharing. I mean with more people, you can order more dishes to try! And because all of the dishes are spicy and sourish, they really open up your appetite!

UYKD Grilled Platter // $28.50
OMG! This grilled platter is a MUST-ORDER if you’re here with your family or friends. The skewers (pork and chicken) were all well-grilled, flavoursome and tender. But the grilled prawns were my favourite – fresh, crunchy and trust me, you’ll not stop at one! Dip them into the special sauces for maximum pleasure but honestly, they are already tasty without it!

Spicy Pomelo Thai Salad with Fresh Prawns // $17.90
This was such a great appetiser – a balanced combination of sweet, sour and spicy. Prawns were really fresh too. All in all, a very refreshing dish!

Spicy Grilled Beef Ribeye Salad // $17
Another great appetiser to munch before your main course. Beef was tender and flavourful.

PenLaos Signature Grilled Chicken // Whole $21 & Half $12
This must be the most tender chicken I’ve had in a while now! Chicken has a nice smoky flavour, and it was so tender. You can tell from its popularity when everyone was fighting for the last piece. I will definitely order this when I’m back!

Stuffed Whole Squid with Tom Yum Fried Rice // $23.90
Hmm..why are all of the food here so delicious? Squid was well-cooked; not too chewy, tough or mushy. Stuffed with flavoursome Tom Yum fried rice, this is also not bad leh! Omg, I think I ate so much here I totally screwed up my dieting plans!

Deep-Fried Whole Sea Bass (1kg) with Thai Herbs // $45
Okay this was really spicy – partly because I ate a small piece of chilli padi and that chilli sauce on the side was spicy as well. If you can take spicy, this is probably the dish to go for! If you can’t, I would suggest skipping this dish!

Leng Zaab – Prime Pork & Back Ribs with Isaan Spicy Sour Soup // Small (700g, 2-3 persons) $28 &Medium (1.2kg, for 4-5 persons) $43 & Large (2kg, for 6-8 persons) $68
Hands down the HIGHLIGHT of our meal! Get your camera ready for some flambé action too! Oh yes, even though this was really spicy (especially the broth), you just can’t help but to keep going for another mouth. Ribs were super tender and literally melts in your mouth. Psst! Beware of the small chilli padi – no joke!

Thai Milk Tea Pudding // $10
Boing Boing! This Thai Milk Tea Pudding is rich and shiok. Some of you might find this a tad too sweet for your liking but I mean Thai Milk Tea is supposed to be sweet, no? Anyway, I really liked it.

Trio Tingkat Delight // $12
It’s always good to end a hearty meal with a warm dessert and this Trio Tingkat Delight that comprises of taro, sweet potato and banana dessert with coconut milk is so 🤤
