Look no further because JUMBO Group of Restaurants has recently launched their brand new dining concept – Zui Yu Xuan Teochew Cuisine (醉宇轩经典潮膳) within the historic Far East Square precinct. As the name suggests, the restaurant offers authentic & mouth-watering Teochew dishes using  only the freshest finest ingredients, executed using the purest methods of preparations –the tenets of Teochew culinary philosophy.

Think classic (and rare) Teochew dishes such as Cold Crab, Teochew ‘Puning’ Fermented Bean Chicken, Deep Fried ‘Ngoh Hiang’ (my FAV), Teochew ‘Muay’ and the list goes on. For those who loves to sing, they also have private rooms that can seat 6 to 25 guests (depending on room type) and are fully equipped with KTV suite facilities. Psst! Look at all these authentic (read: mouth-salivating) Teochew dishes from Zui Yu Xuan! I’m definitely bringing my family here and I believe they will love this place as much as I do. If you’re hosting a VIP, you should bring him/her here!


Cold Crab // $12 per 100g
It’s really hard to find Cold Crab in Singapore (the other place I know is Lee Do Restaurant) and I must say Zui Yu Xuan’s rendition is really good. Crabs were really fresh and look at that amount of crab roe! Super shiok! A MUST-TRY!

Deep Fried ‘Ngoh Hiang’ // $13
This was one of my favourite appetiser at the restaurant! Fried to perfection, the Ngoh Hiang was generously stuffed with fillings, crispy and not too oily. Dip it into the sauce for maximum pleasure. Trust me, you can’t stop at one!


Deep Fried Prawn Balls // $22
Didn’t know Prawn Balls tasted this good! They were flavoursome and spot that Achar at the back – so darn addictive!

Deep Fried Home-Made ‘Puning’ Beancurd // $12
Not too sure about this dish – it’s either you like it or you hate it. Beancurd was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There’s an aftertaste to this dish, very similar to that of Smelly Tofu. So if you’re a fan of that, you’ll probably love this dish!

Pig Trotter Terrine // $13
Not a fan of jelly-like savoury food but this dish was relatively popular among my friends.

Crispy Fried Sea Cucumber and Shiitake Mushroom with Abalone Sauce // $24
Like what I’ve mentioned earlier, I don’t fancy jelly-like savoury food and sea cucumber happens to be one of them. But you know what this is the first time I almost finished the entire sea cucumber on my own. Unlike the usual, this sea cucumber was crispy and it goes so well with the rich abalone sauce. Try it to believe it yourself!

Teochew ‘Puning’ Fermented Bean Chicken // Half ($22) & Full ($40)
Chicken was really flavoursome, tender and juicy. Hand me a bowl of rice now!

Teochew Oyster Omelette ‘Gooey Style’ // $13
For those who loves Oyster Omelette, you will love this. They were really generous with the portion of oyster and the omelette was really crispy!

Pomfret and Rice Boiled Teochew Style with Dried Shrimp Crispy Rice
Best thing to have during a cold and rainy night! The soup was so comforting and flavoursome. This dish definitely warrants a re-visit!

Teochew ‘Tau Suan’ with Gingko Nuts // $5.20
This Tau Suan is so good, and they added orange peel in it. Finished the entire bowl myself!
