Can you believe it? Dolphins Tavern has actually been around for 35 years! Nestled within Seletar Hills, this hidden gem (also a down-to-earth cafe) offers an extensive selection of wallet-friendly Peranakan-Western dishes. Even though prices are kept reasonable for the diners, Dolphins Tavern do not compromise on the quality of their food. So, you can be assured to be walking out of the cafe with a satisfied stomach without feeling the strain on your wallet.

If you’re craving for Peranakan food, you can now feast to your heart’s content because Dolphin Taverns has recently introduced a Weekend Peranakan Brunch Buffet at only $18.90+ from 11am-3pm! Think FREE FLOW Ayam Buah Keluak, Beef Rendang, Nonya Curry Chicken and many more! 😋

So, what are you waiting for? Time to jio all your friends for a hearty Peranakan feast without breaking the bank! Psst! Their Sapporo Premium Beer (White/Black) is only priced at $5.50/$7 per mug respectively! Don’t say I bojio okay!

As you can see, they are very generous with the portion served! Dishes are well presented too! Oh yes, before I forget, remember to get a basket of crackers which goes really well with their handmade sambal sauce alongside their addictive achar!

Tapas of the Day // $10.90
The dish you MUST order to go with your iced cold beer! Offerings changes everyday and the special that day was Crabmeat with Fish Roe, Top Shells and Chicken Roulade. My favourites were the well-seasoned and flavoursome Top Shells as well as the tender Chicken Roulade. Now, where’s my beer?

Ayam Buak Keluak // $15.90
For $15.90, this Ayam Buak Keluak Bento is seriously very value-for-money! Rice was fragrant and moist, Achar was to-die-for, Chap Cai was flavourful and that Buak Keluak Chicken was tender and not too jelat. I was really very happy with this dish. For those who don’t really like the taste of Buak Keluak, you should probably try this. The flavour isn’t so overwhelming!

Assam Fish // $15.90
If you’re looking for something that’s very appetising, go for the Assam Fish. It has a nice sweet-sour-spicy combination which leaves you wanting more! There wasn’t any fishy taste and trust me, my mum finished the entire sauce – she soaked her rice in it!

Spring Lamb Rib // $21.90
Not particularly fond of this dish cos I thought the lamb was a tad too gamey for me (but again, I’m not a fan of lamb-related dishes)! Let me know your thoughts if you order this!

And the legendary Achar which me and my mum went crazy about! So tempted to ask if I could dapao some back home! I can eat this with rice alone! It’s that good!

Peranakan Delights // $5
Not your elaborated/fanciful cakes you’ll usually find in hipster cafes, the cakes (Gula Melaka, Chendol and I can’t remember the red one) at Dolphins Tavern buys you that sense of nostalgia. Very old school and yeah, the cakes were soft and moist!
