Staying true to Mexican’s culinary roots and culture, El Mero Mero is back with a refurbished space alongside a stunning new menu. Diners can look forward to a combination of traditional and modern Mexican fare without breaking the bank. Think a myriad of tantalising (read: memorable) Mexican classics such as El Tacos (Baja Fish Tacos & Wagyu Volcan), Hamachi and Coconut Ceviche, Tostadas De Atun, El Mero Mero Fajita, Tequila Pecan Pie, Red Velvet Churros and many more!

If you’re craving or into good and authentic Mexican food, you should definitely check El Mero Mero out! For the lovebirds out there, this is also a perfect and very romantic restaurant to dine at!

Left the restaurant with a full but very satisfied stomach! Couldn’t pick a favourite (there’s a few that I really like) and El Mero Mero definitely warrants a re-visit!

Complimentary in-house Tortilla Chips with Salsa before your feast starts! Be warned because they are very addictive!

Guacamole
Smashed Avocados with Diced Tomatoes, Onions, Serrano, Coriander & Lime, Charred Tostadas
A MUST to have at every Mexican restaurant! Mix them all up and eat them with the charred tostadas. Secretly hoping that they are selling the Guacamole cos I was so tempted to pack them home!

Corn Sampler
Char-grilled Organic Baby Corns, Smoked Huitlacoche Donuts, Chilli Mayo
Let’s start with the Organic Baby Corns first! They are grilled in the Josper oven (hence explaining the nice charred flavour), and served on a bed of torched corn husk. Dip those crunchy corns in the house-made Chilli Mayo dressing for the maximum pleasure. Donuts are made with *huitlacoche (mix, eggs, flour and milk then whisked together). The dough is then frozen and deep-fried upon order. They are more savoury then sweet! It’s already tasty on its own!

*Huitlacoche is corn fungus that some call a Mexican truffle. In El Mero Mero, it is recreated into a donut – an elegant presentation of huitlacoche.

Hamachi and Coconut Ceviche
Hamachi Aguachile on a fresh Green Coconut, Hibiscus Flower Milk, Trout Roe with Avocado Puree
A very refreshing appetiser! It has a great combination of sweet-sour-spicy flavours in it. Fresh sashimi-grade hamachi is cut into cubes and marinated in aguachile (prepared with lime juice and fresh chilli pepper pulp from jalapeno, serrano and guero chilli peppers), then tossed in lime juice, hibiscus flower milk (prepared by simmering hibiscus flower in coconut water and milk), freshly made avocado puree and garnished with trout roe. Probably shouldn’t share this! haha!

Tostadas De Atun
Tuna Tartar, Avocado Puree, Chipotle Mayo, Matchstick Tempura Banana Shallots on a Crispy Corn Tortilla
There’s nothing to complain about this dish and definitely one dish I would order when I visit El Mero Mero again. Fresh sashimi-grade yellowfin tuna is cut into cubes and tossed in housemade chipotle mayo then topped with avocado puree, tempura banana shallots that is fried a la minute and served on crispy corn tortilla. Combination was 👍🏻 and those tempura banana shallots are 😍

Wagyu Volcan
Kiriotoshi Cut, Burnt Cheese, Avocado & Molcajete Sauce, Crunchy Tortilla
Hmmm..Wagyu was done so perfectly. It was well-seasoned, tender and not gamey at all. The Molcajete sauce (prepared with tomatoes, jalapeno chilli pepper and garlic made using a Mexican mortar and pestle) paired the beef really well. Shiok!

Baja Fish
Tempura Tooth Fish with Pico De Gallo & Pickled Shallots, Chipotle Mayo, Flour Tortilla
This was one of my FAV dish at El Mero Mero! And I prefer this to the Wagyu Volcan! Patagonian toothfish fillet is coated in tempura batter and deep-fried. It was topped with with pico de gallo (prepared with tomato, onion, coriander and serrano chili pepper), pickled shallots, and chipotle mayo with flour tortilla and lime upon request. I think I can easily eat 3 on my own! Highly recommended!

Char Grilled Pumpkin Salad
Fresh Tomatillo, Avocado Slices, Pomegranate, Homemade Roasted Onion & Sesame Dressing on Mesclun
This hearty and wholesome bowl of salad will definitely please the health conscious crowd! Love the roasted pumpkin! It was so good! The salad has a slight bitter aftertaste.

Tortilla Soup
Flamed Corn Tortilla, Avocado, Guajillo, Slow-cooked n Thick Roasted Tomatoes, Crema
If you’re craving something comforting, this Tortilla Soup is what you’ll need! This flavoursome soup is made of tomatoes, garlic, onion and guajillo chilli pepper are roasted in the Josper oven then boiled and blended with flamed corn tortilla. It is then topped with deep-fried tortilla strips and diced avocado, and garnished with crema. Would recommend you to get this if you’re with a larger group of people!

Gordita
Mexican Corn Gordita, Frijoles, Salsa Roja, Heirloom Vegetables
Gordita is prepared with nixtamalised corn dough (also known as masa) and salt, pressed with a tortilla press, and deep-fried. Served with frijoles (black beans that are boiled, seasoned and blended till chunky then fried in housemade onion oil), salsa roja (tomato sauce made with fresh tomatoes that are boiled and blended), and butter-sautéed heirloom vegetables including carrots, baby corn, brussel sprouts, baby red and yellow capsicum and cauliflower.

El Mero Mero Fajita
Oyster Blade, Poblano Shishito Crema, Flour Tortillas
My first time seeing Fajita that comes in a pool of cream sauce! The oyster blade cut is grilled to perfection – tender and melts in your mouth. Cream sauce was so flavoursome (and very addictive) – can finish them myself! Goes so well with the wrap! A MUST ORDER!

Tequila Pecan Pie
Homemade Pecan Pie, 1800 Anejo Tequila, Cinnamon Ice Cream
My FAV dessert at El Mero Mero! Because I’m a fan of Pecan + Cinnamon, the Tequila Pecan Pie was extremely comforting and the layers were 😋! Cinnamon ice cream wasn’t too overwhelming and it paired really well with the pie!

Braised Pineapple
Caramelized in Cane Sugar, Vanilla Ice Cream
Pineapple is peeled and cut into 6 parts, blanched then frozen. The frozen pineapple is then sous vide with piloncillo (cane sugar melted with butter) at 70OC for 45 minutes then grilled in the Josper oven. Served with vanilla ice cream made with full cream milk, vanilla pods and nitrogen, and garnished with lime zest. The combination was interesting though I found it a tad sweet for my liking.

Red Velvet Churros
Light Cream Cheese, Cocoa Mousse
These churros were good! Fried to perfection, they were crispy and thank god, not too sweet. Very addictive and it goes really well with the dip! Perfect way to end off a hearty and satisfying Mexican feast!
